Please see channel 2 news about this case - http://www.wsbtv.com/news/22779593/detail.html .

VIDEO of Officers speaking out - http://www.wsbtv.com/video/22783371/index.html

I guess certain people are still running things at CCPD. .... :-X

The internal memo obtained by WBSTV and shown on channel 2 last night (3/8/10 at 11pm) was shown briefly to either be FROM/TO Chief of Staff Cohilis TO/FROM Interim Chief Robinson. The former Chief was also named by reporter tonight (6:00pm) who states these ALLEGED corruption charges/investigation started under the previous administration and the reporter said one officer said this charge was the result of a disagreement with administration.  Appeals to be filed to the Civil Service Board.

Any comments?

There is too much still unknown, but it is easy to throw mud at people when they have already left. Who knows?

Let's just say that there have been MANY CHANGES at CCPD in the past few months. Is this a ferriting out of corruption (Clayco, lol!) or an overzealous witchhunt? You decide!

If the allegations are true than the officers should have been fired!  This type of activity diminishes the effectiveness of the entire department, jeopardizes the mission and safety of even those officers that aren't involved in unethical behavior.

***** Police: Criminal charges unlikely against fired officers *****

A spokesperson for the Clayton County Police Department has said the department will not likely seek criminal charges against four police officers fired on Monday.

While police officials accuse the officers of acts ranging from selling drugs, to having sex while on duty, police spokesperson, Lt. Tina Daniel, said Tuesday that the department will only seek administrative action.

“There are no [criminal] charges pending at this time,” Daniel said. “They were terminated because of the unethical acts and the violation of oath of office. If you lie, that is grounds for termination. I can’t go into specifics about why, but it was handled administratively, as opposed to criminally.”

Why not bring up criminal chargies if drugs was involved???????  Can police officers use drougs legally???????

Riddle me this...... ;)

Why did certain officials go to the media with these allegations?
Why go to the media at all with charges that either can't stick or cannot be criminally prosecuted?
If you are going to accuse officers or anyone of selling drugs, aren't there MANDATORY LAWS against this?
Why link the former Chief with this when that case still hasn't been resolved?
Why put Clayton again in the negative media spotlight when things have been quiet?

Perhaps they are sending a message to current ClayCo employees (esp. law enforcement)?   Like, something along the lines of, 'git wit us' or 'git wit the program' or we can put you on BLAST?

More telling is the repeated mantra given by ClayCo officials (ex. Channel 2's televised: 1. Interim Chief Robinson Memo, 2. Lt. Daniel's statements, 3. Com. Singleton's statements) concerning CCPD matters -'culture of corruption'/'not tolerating corruption', etc.  Why, if it WAS so corrupt, where are all the charges??? The FBI was in town awhile back (per News Daily article(s)), what happened with that and all of the other 'investigations' of a serious nature? ::)

Methinks Sonny needs to build a 'Go Fish' emporium in ClayCo too.

I kind of agree with you. We might be being treated like mushrooms for all we know. I don't trust any of them at this point.
